Summer reading: “Far from the Tree” by Andrew Solomon

July 9, 2014Written by pgEd

Andrew Solomon’s award-winning book “Far From The Tree” examines the big questions about disability, difference, love, family and identity. From the book jacket, “Solomon’s starling proposition ..is that being exceptional is at the core of the human condition-that difference is what unites us.”

Solomon was interviewed by NPR in 2013, and many of the themes he explores and the conditions he writes about are highlighted – and it included a free excerpt from the book.

“Parenting a Child Who Has Fallen Far From the Tree“, NPR, November 12, 2012.
