New genetic technologies are allowing us to assess and alter our own DNA and that of other living things, which brings excitement about the potential for treating disease, as well as fear that some applications could lead to a new era of eugenics. This presentation provides a historical foundation to consider when discussing the benefits and implications of genetic technologies that are emerging today. This presentation was recorded in July of 2020.
