We are pleased to add another piece to our curriculum, “DNA and crime”. This lesson highlights one of the more controversial aspects of the use of DNA in forensics – familial searching. In our experience, this subject is one students are drawn to. Teachers will find a detailed lesson plan along with some slides to provide background for the lesson. We suggest using this video from 60 minutes that captures many aspects of the debate in a 12 minute segment.
