  3. Thank you Representative Louise Slaughter!
October 3, 2014Written by pgEd

Representative Louise Slaughter (D-NY), who worked tirelessly for 14 years to see the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act (GINA) passed, is the first person in the world to take our Map-Ed quiz about our genetic civil rights. Her video says it all! Please have a look, and share this with friends, family and colleagues, inviting them to join the Congresswoman in raising awareness of this important law!

The first pin is in her home district of Rochester, New York, and we are honored to be working in conjunction with her office to raise awareness about this important piece of legislation. Education about GINA’s protections is much needed, as  a recent study revealed that 55% of physicians and only 20% of the general public are aware of their rights related to genetic information, health insurance and employment. Map-Ed is a online educational tool – work your way through the questions, and pin yourself on our world map to represent your awareness about your genetic rights!
