  2. History of the American Eugenics Movement

During the self-directed segment of today’s webinar, we invite you to watch a clip from the PBS documentary The Gene: An Intimate History followed by the remainder of pgEd’s lesson on the history of the American eugenics movement. We have provided links to the PowerPoint file and script for those who prefer to read along.

Once you have watched the clip and the presentation, take a few moments to share your reflections on Padlet.

At the end of this segment, we will come back together as a group in the Zoom meeting. If possible, we recommend leaving the Zoom meeting open with your microphone and video off. Please keep your Zoom link handy in case you need to rejoin the meeting.

Watch this clip from The Gene: An Intimate History on PBS LearningMedia (9 mins; closed captioning provided)
Watch the recorded pgEd lesson (20 mins; closed captioning provided)
If you prefer to read along:

Click here for the video transcript and click here for a copy of the slideshow. The above video begins at Slide 11 in these documents.

Now, share your reflections on Padlet before returning to the Zoom call.

We will reconvene on the hour (5pm PDT, 7pm EDT).
