Gill was invited back to Options Employment & Education Services in Hartford, CT, to deliver a program series for high school students. From May 7 through June 4, she will present a different PGED lesson. The third lesson is ‘Personalized Medicine’.
About the lesson: Personalized medicine, also referred to as precision medicine, holds great promise to improve healthcare. As the cost of genetic analysis decreases and research advances, it is becoming increasingly possible to include a person’s genetic makeup in the repertoire of tools that inform their healthcare. This lesson asks students to delve into the hopes and challenges of personalized medicine and to consider the applications of genetic analysis in medicine.
