On December 11, Ting spent a day meeting with the freshman class and a smattering of students from other grades, as well as their teachers, Thomas Donley, Tommie Hata, Melanie Fields, Paula Wang, and Bryan Adams. Conversations covered topics ranging from fetal and maternal microchimerism, nanorobots, and DNA origami, to preimplantation genetic diagnosis, newborn testing, and the use of genetics in law enforcement. The students had fabulous questions that pushed everyone to think more deeply about personal genetics.
