April 30, 2014, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
pgEd’s Director and Co-founder, Ting Wu, is an invited speaker at the annual Genomes, Environment and Traits Conference, a unique meeting that brings together scientists, educators – and most importantly, participants in the Personal Genome Project – for 2 days of data collection, data sharing, scientific talks and a look at where personal genomics is headed. Ting’s will be presenting in the “Explorers” section on her research interest in a remarkable and puzzling set of sequences, called ultraconserved elements, which have resisted change for hundreds of millions of years.- Her talk, titled “A genomic puzzle, a potential therapy, and space” will bring in some flavor from the recent symposium Ting co-hosted at Harvard Medical School on Genetics, Biomedicine, and the Human Experience in Space.
UPDATE: The Boston Globe reported on Dr. Wu’s talk: “Ancient swaths of DNA are a genomic puzzle that could lead to new therapies“
