These events are organized by passionate individuals who seek to uncover new ideas and share information that spark conversations in their communities.
Talk description: ‘It’s in my DNA’, is a phrase often used to associate a person’s genetic makeup with their unique identity. Indeed, people can better understand parts of themselves, including their ancestry, traits, and health, by learning about their genetic information. Knowledge of genetics also influences how people think about pressing societal issues such as human rights, public health, and data privacy. Exploring the complexities of these personal topics can feel challenging, as people’s perspectives are informed by their unique identities, experiences, and worldviews. Gillian McNeil, a genetics specialist, will bring people together to discuss personal and social issues in genetics. Gillian will demonstrate that dialogue is a simple yet powerful way to foster curiosity, trust, and empathy around challenges that connect us all.
