This past July, pgEd held its fifth annual Summer Institute for teachers. With more than 50 educators in attendance, this was our largest professional development workshop ever. We were particularly thrilled with the large contingents of teachers who came from Boston and Hartford public schools.
The topic of this year’s institute was “Genetics and Social Justice“, and the focus was on exploring how genetics intersects with issues of social justice and, as genetic technologies become more widespread, how our society can ensure that education about and access to this information is available to all people. The energy at the 3-day workshop was palpable, and there was a lot of enthusiasm in carrying the conversations forward.
We will be holding a shorter, 1-day version of the workshop on Dec. 7th, 2016. Click here to register, and email Lauren Tomaselli at ltomaselli@pged.med.harvard.edu for more information.
