pgEd is grateful to DuPont for their contribution of $25,000 to support pgEd’s launch of an outpost in Fields Corner (the Dorchester neighborhood of Boston) in September. This new community-centered initiative is being headed up by Fabienne Mondesir (Director of Community Engagement), a veteran teacher from the Boston Public Schools who first came to pgEd through our professional development workshops, and Clifford “CJ” Jones (Community Liason), who first got involved with pgEd as a sophomore in high school when he met pgEd Director, Ting Wu. Fabienne and CJ are working to increase awareness, promote conversation, and establish trust with our local Boston communities towards the goal of making Boston an exemplar in terms of awareness and conversation about the benefits and implications of genetics. They are focusing in particular on engaging underserved and underrepresented communities through schools, youth organizations, libraries, faith institutions, and other community-based groups. Many thanks to DuPont for their generous support of these efforts. Stay tuned to our blog and events calendar to follow the latest from Fields Corner!
