We had a great time at the Maine Science Teachers Association meeting this past Friday. Thank you everyone who came to our workshop!
pgEd’s session was concurrent with friend and Brunswick teacher Maria Palopoli’s session. Despite our husbands having offices next door to each other, Maria and I actually found one another on our own, because of our shared interested in students, biology, bioethics and teaching.
Maria, who earned the Presidential Award for Excellence in Science and Math Teaching in 2009, developed a wonderful resource to get students debating the ethical issues in biotechnology, particularly reproductive technology. A YouTube clip about “Jenn Ettics” and her parents can be found HERE, and the Department of Education has an article about this work HERE.
