Personal Genetics Education Project

Hadley Smith, pgEd’s summer intern!

Hadley-and-GeorgepgEd is thrilled to have had Hadley Stevens Smith with us for the summer! Hadley joined us from Texas A&M University, and worked on a number of important projects for pgEd this summer.  Thank you Hadley for your work on a soon-to-be-released Map-Ed quiz, and for the wonderfully detailed and clear post at Current Genetics Update about mitochondrial transfer and some of the associated ethical questions. Hadley helped  with our Summer Institute for high school teachers, and did some great research we will be using in future lesson plans!

We were pleased Hadley was able to meet one of pgEd’s Advisory Board members, Dr. George Church. We want one of those t-shirts, too!

What a wonderful three days at our Summer Institute! Thanks to our friends at Brockton High School for hosting us, and to all the teachers who came and shared their energy, passion and ideas. There will be lots for pgEd to get inspirations from as we develop our new unit of lessons on genetics and identity.
See everyone at our next workshop in Boston in less than two weeks!
